No. 4 Wake Forest Takes Road Win Against Delaware

Two Deacs recorded their first career goals.
TOWSON, Md. – The No. 4 Wake Forest field hockey team defeated Delaware at Towson University on Friday evening.
Junior Mia Montag earned her second goal of the season.
Sophomore Allie Campbell earned her first career goal.
Junior Brenna Campagna recorded her first goal as a Demon Deacon.
Junior Sarah Mudd earned her first goal of the season.
Senior Faye Janse earned her fourth goal of the season.
Sophomore goalie Ruby Butterfield has earned her fifth straight win, recording three saves on the day.
How It Happened
"5-1 win today. Second half we lacked discipline and have some stuff to clean up before Sunday. Credit to that Delaware team for not making it easy. We saw improvement and can continue to get better from here. Shoutout to Allie and Brenna for their first goals. Now we prepare and get ready to face a good Maryland team."
The Deacs will face No. 5 Maryland in College Park on Sunday at 12 p.m.

- Montag scored off an assist by junior Lena Keller.
- Delaware responded with a penalty corner goal in the second quarter
- Wake responded less than a minute later
- Cambell recorded her first career goal
- In the third quarter, Wake recorded two goals
- Campagna recorded her first career goal
- Mudd got on the board for the first time this season
- The Deacs recorded one goal in the fourth
- Janse earned her fourth goal of the season
- The Deacons held Delaware scoreless in the second half
- The Deacons finished with a 5-1 win.
- With this win, head coach Jen Averill sits just four wins away from her 450th win as a Demon Deacon
