Wake Forest's Connor Calvert Named Lou Groza Award Star of the Week

Calvert went 3-for-3 on field goal attempts in Saturday’s 30-27 victory at No. 16 Louisville including nailing a game-winning attempt in the fourth quarter.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest redshirt sophomore kicker Connor Calvert has been named a Lou Groza Award Star of the Week, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced on Tuesday.
In Wake Forest's 30-27 victory at No. 16 Louisville in Week 4 action, Calvert went 3-for-3 on field goal attempts and 3-for-3 on extra point attempts. The redshirt sophomore made what would ultimately be the game-winning field goal with less than seven minutes remaining in the contest, nailing a 32-yard attempt.
He also converted from 39 and 25 yards in the first and third quarters respectively.
Calvert is now 6-for-6 on field goal attempts on the road this season, as Wake Forest is one of only five programs with a pair of road wins against Power 4 programs. For his career to date he is also 43-of-44 on extra point attempts.
The Lou Groza Award – college football's top kicking award – is named for NFL Hall of Fame kicker Lou "The Toe" Groza, who played 21 seasons for the Cleveland Browns. He won four NFL Championships and was named NFL Player of the Year in 1954.
