Prior to Wake Forest... three-year letterwinner and all-conference selection at Tallmadge HS... started as shortstop and pitcher as squad captured 2002 Ohio State Championship... was named all-district first team while playing three positions... batted .402 with four home runs, 24 RBIs, 28 runs scored and 16 stolen bases as a leadoff hitter... threw out 70 percent of the base runners attempting to steal... played summer ball for the Ohio Thunder and batted .400 with a .520 on-base percentage, 47 runs scored and 22 walks... earned a total of five other letters in football and basketball... earned Honor Roll every grading period of high school... owned a 3.7 grade point average... member of the National Honor Society, Student Senate, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and served as junior class president.
