"Chris was an invaluable bullpen piece for us last season. He was the guy we went to with one out, men on base and the game on the line. Chris thrived in that role. This year his role should be similar, but depending on what we do with McSweeney he could close some games too. He is definitely a guy we want with the ball when it counts."
2017 (Redshirt Junior)
Was one of the most often-used arms out of the bullpen, making 24 appearances and posting a 0-0 record and 5.89 ERA ... Served as the team's strikeout specialist, fanning 32 batters in 18.1 innings, and stranding 22 runners, more than twice as many as any other reliever, out of the 31 he inherited (71.0 percent strand rate) ... Came on strong in league play, posting a 1.80 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 5.0 innings over eight ACC appearances ... Recovered from a slow start, posting a 2.92 ERA after March 14 ... Struck out a season-high four batters in 1.2 innings of a win over Southern Cal ... Lowered his walk rate dramatically to less than one every other inning ... Played summer ball with the Harrisonburg Turks.
2016 (Redshirt Sophomore)
Made 35 appearances, fifth-most all-time and trailing only Dave Bush (three times) and Donnie Sellers ... Finished the year with a 2-1 record and 4.82 ERA ... Struck out 35 batters in 28.0 innings, allowing opponents to hit just .224 against him ... ERA was as low as 3.12 in mid-May before allowing runs in three of his last five outings ... Recorded first-career win at Elon (March 29), striking out the only two batters he faced ... Also picked up a win against UNCG (Apr. 12) ... Struck out three batters five times, never pitching more than 1.2 innings in those outings ... Played summer ball with the Harrisonburg Turks in the Valley League.
2015 (Redshirt Freshman)
Showed electric stuff but battled control issues and an injury ... Struck out seven batters in 5.0 innings ... Ended the year on a high note with a scoreless inning of work at Duke (May 15) ... Didn't allow a hit his first 2.0 innings ... Spending the summer with the St. Cloud Rox in the Northwoods League.
2014 (Freshman)
Did not appear in any games ... Played with the Baltimore Redbirds in the Cal Ripken League during the summer.
High School
Was a finalist for the Texas Rangers Area Code Team ... Four-year starter for St. John's High School ... Named team MVP and All-SPC as a junior ... Struck out 51 batters and posted a 1.02 ERA in 41 innings as a junior ... Also hit .368 with nine doubles and 31 runs scored ... Attended Perfect Game National in Metrodome ... Pitched in Texas Scouts Association Game at Minute Maid Park.
