Assistant Coach, Matt Morales works primarily with the Demon Deacons' infielders while contributing to baserunning, recruiting, and hitting instruction. He joined the Wake Forest coaching staff prior to the 2026 season from the Texas Rangers organization, carrying a professional scout's eye into every rep on the dirt.
A switch-hitting shortstop known for his glove and his speed, Morales was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 2017 and made an immediate splash, hitting .358 in his professional debut with Idaho Falls before continuing through the Royals system and with the St. Paul Saints.
Prior to his time at Wake Forest, Morales has coached infield, hitting, and baserunning at UAB and Florida State, and spent multiple seasons as a professional scout with the Chicago Cubs, evaluating talent at all levels from the Dominican Summer League to the Major League level. Coach Morales is an expert developer, and evaluator.
