Dr. Jason George, a veteran strength and conditioning and sports psychology expert with over 11 years of experience in the NFL and over three decades of experience in athletics, was hired as Director of Integrated High Performance in March 2021. He is set to begin his fourth season on the staff in 2024.

George oversees the development of an integrated, high-performance program within the Demon Deacon football team, leveraging existing resources in sports performance, sports medicine, nutrition and sports psychology to implement sports science principles with comprehensive data collection/analysis and monitoring systems to optimize decision-making for football student-athlete development and performance.

As part of his work, George works with existing strength & conditioning coaches, athletic training staffs, nutritionists and sports psychologists to implement findings from the sports science program to help improve student athlete injury prevention, player development, tactical knowledge and psychological skills. He has expertise in numerous sports science disciplines, including Athlete Management Systems (AMS), GPS Monitoring, Heart Rate Training Systems, and Force Plate Jump Analysis, among others. 

George is expected to complete his Doctor of Psychology degree in 2021 from the University of Arizona (Global Campus) with a specialization in Sport and Performance Psychology. Professionally, he most recently served Sports Science Coordinator / Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Houston Texans from 2018-2020, where he coordinated all aspects of the team’s sports science program, most notably the implementation of the Athlete Management System (AMS), designing models for assessing injury risk and athletic performance.

Prior to joining the Texans, George served as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Chicago Bears from 2015-2018, where he led all aspects of the Bears’ sports performance program, while also assisting the player personnel department with NFL Combine assessments. He joined the Bears after a pair of stints as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach, working from 2012-2015 with the Denver Broncos and from 2009-2012 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. 

During his time in the NFL, George coached players to 41 Pro Bowl appearances, 16 All-Pro seasons, and one NFL MVP season (Peyton Manning, 2013). His teams won five division titles in 11 seasons, and won one AFC title (Broncos, 2013). 

Prior to working in the NFL, George was the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Fordham University from 1998-2009, where he supervised the strength and conditioning programs for 22 varsity sports while directly working with the Rams’ football program, where Dave Clawson coached from 1999-2003. While at Fordham, George was named the “Iron Major” Coach of the Year by the school in 2000, the first time in NCAA history a Strength & Conditioning coach won their school’s coach of the year award. 

George earned his Bachelor’s of Physical Education from the University of Manitoba, where George was an Academic All-Canadian Safety for the Bison football team. He completed his Master of Science in Education with a Specialization in Sports Psychology and Sports Administration from the University of Kansas in 2002. George holds over a dozen certifications in Sports Science and Performance disciplines, most notably as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and as a Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist.
