Katie Dunn was hired to the women's basketball staff as the Director of Basketball Operations & Recruiting ahead of the 2022-23 season.

In this role, she oversees all day-to-day operations of the Demon Deacons women’s basketball program as well as coordinating all team travel.

During Dunn’s first season working with the program, the Deacs tied the most since the 2011-12 season, defeated four NCAA Tournament teams including wins over two Elite Eight teams and grabbed 12 wins at home, the fourth-highest total in program history.

Dunn comes to Winston-Salem after spending the last three year working with the Texas Exes, the association of former students of the University of Texas at Austin. Among other projects in this role she helped establish the Opportunity Scholarship program and welcome/steward first class through a pilot program in 2021-22.

From 2017-19, Dunn worked as a compliance coordinator at Kansas State where she helped maintain a comprehensive rules education program for all 14 sports, their athletes, coaches, and administrators.

Also in this role, Dunn served as liaison to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) while also oversaw the NCAA Transfer Portal database for student-athletes among other duties.

Prior to her role in compliance, Dunn spent four seasons serving as director of bas­ketball administration for the Kansas State women's basketball program from 2013-17.

Dunn was responsible for a number of administrative duties while at Kansas State including: coordinating staff and team travel with regard to air/bus/rental vehicle/hotel meals/travel, money and budget management, traveling with the- team to manage all away game logistics, manage all home game logistics, on-campus recruiting logistics, training table table logistics, camp/clinic budgets, daily office operations, and direct program contact for all other KSA departments. She also served as direct team contact for commu­nity engagements and in charge of all communication with the team regarding non-athletic operations/events. 

Prior to her appointment with the women's basketball pro­gram, Dunn completed her master's of academic advising degree from K-State. 

From 2011-13, Dunn served as the graduate assistant academic counselor for the K-State men's basketball program. During this opportunity, Dunn aided in tutoring, advising and management of the academic paths of the K-State men's basketball student-athletes. 

Before she earned her graduate degree in 2013, Dunn had served as a mathematical statistician with the United States Department of Agriculture in Columbia, Mo., from 2009-10. 

Dunn also graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kansas State in 2008 with a bachelor of statistics and a bachelor of economics degree.

Dunn is married to her husband, Arin, and they have a son, Reece.
