A 2012 graduate of Wake Forest, Cheyenne Woods is set to be inducted into the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame. She finished her career in the Old Gold and Black having played in all 38 events of her collegiate career, totaling 125 competitive rounds. She had 14 top-10 career finishes and 20 more top-20 finishes. Her official induction date will be announced at a later time.
She finished her career with the then-lowest single season (73.47) and career scoring averages (74.31) in program history. She was a two-time All-American and three-time All-ACC honoree, winning the ACC individual title during her junior season in 2011. She was the third-straight Demon Deacon to take home the individual title. She also won the Bryan National Collegiate during the spring of her sophomore season in 2010.
In 2012, Woods turned professional after graduating with her degree in Communications. She qualified for the 2012 U.S. Women's Open by finishing as co-medalist at her qualifier and made her professional debut at the 2012 LPGA Championship. She had her first professional win on the SunCoast Ladies Series in late August 2012.
In 2013, Woods became a member of the Ladies European Tour and finished 78th on the Order of Merit. In 2014, Woods had her second professional win (and first on a major tour) at the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters.
In December 2014, Woods finished T-11th in the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, thereby earning Category 12 membership, which entitled her to entry in most full-field events apart from the more prestigious events. In the 2015 season, she made only eight cuts and had to go through qualifying again. By finishing T-13th in the Final Qualifying Tournament, she earned her LPGA tour card for 2016. At the time, Woods was the sixth African American to play on the LPGA Tour.
She is now an on-course broadcaster for the Golf Channel and just recently welcomed her first child with fiance Aaron Hicks of the New York Yankees.
