Paul Kiser was an offensive guard for the Deacons from 1983 to 1986 and earned All-America honors from The Sporting News and the Football Writers Association as a senior. An All-ACC selection in 1986, Kiser also claimed the league's Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the ACC's premier blocker, the first Deacon to win the award in over 30 years. Kiser's presence on the offensive line helped Wake Forest set eight records and lead the ACC in scoring in 1986. Following his senior season, the Connelly Springs, N.C. native received invitations to the Blue-Gray Classic, the Senior Bowl and the East-West Shrine Game. He was a sixth round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in the 1987 NFL Draft and spent the 1987 season with the Detroit Lions.
Kiser's abilities were lauded by ex-coaches and teammates in his nomination letter.
Former assistant coach Jim Hofher said "(Paul) was clearly the dominant offensive lineman amongst his peers at Wake Forest and among the best in the ACC in the mid-1980s. He deserves recognition as one of Wake Forest's all-time best players."
Former offensive line coach Buddy King said "I can truly say that Paul was the best offensive lineman I had the pleasure to coach. Paul developed into the premier offensive lineman in the ACC his senior year. Paul did everything a coach could want from his offensive linemen."
Kiser is a 1987 graduate of Wake Forest.
