DAVIDSON, N.C. ? The Davidson women?s basketball team dropped to 0-2 on the season with a 64-54 loss to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (1-1) in women?s basketball action Tuesday night at Belk Arena.

Four Demon Deacons scored in double figures as they were led by Alisha Mosley?s 19-point performance. Also reaching double digits for Wake Forest was Kristen Schaefer, LaChina Robinson and Janae Whiteside.

Davidson senior guard Jennifer O?Brien scored a game-high 22 points in the losing effort and added three assists, four steals and five rebounds. Senior forward Katy Kamp recorded a ?double double? pulling down 11 rebounds while scoring 12 points.

The Wildcats closed the gap early in the second half to 32-29, but Wake Forest reeled off seven consecutive points off Wildcat turnovers and extended the lead to 10 with 12:40 left in the game.

A three-point basket by Mosley with 4:30 left in the game put the final nail in the coffin for the Wildcats as it extended the lead to 10, 55-45. Two Janna Magette free throws brought the Wildcats to within eight, 59-51, but that was as close as they would come for the remainder of the game.

Davidson took an early 7-0 lead and stretched it to 10-2 with 16:47 left in the first half, but Wake Forest battled back going on a 13-2 run over the next six minutes to take the lead, 15-12. The Wildcats only points during that stretch came on a pair of Kelly Copland free throws. O?Brien?s jumper at 6:12 broke field goal drought for Davidson that had stretched for more than 10 minutes.

The Wildcats tied the game at 19 with 4:48 left in the half, but were unable to take the lead and Wake Forest entered the lockerroom with a seven-point lead, 28-21. O?Brien led Davidson with seven points at the half while the Demon Deacon?s Robinson had 10 points.

For the game, Davidson was 16 of 48 (.333) from the field and Wake Forest connected on 41.3 percent of its shots (19-46).

The Wildcats travel to Santa Clara, Calif. This weekend to participate in the Santa Clara Diet Coke Shootout featuring Santa Clara, Denver and Miami (Ohio). Davidson opens the tournament Friday night against Denver. Wake Forest continues its season Friday, hosting Arizona State at 7:00.
