Deacon Tracksters Compete in Oregon Meet

Nolan Swanson finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a personal-best time of 8:41.72 to lead a Wake Forest contingent of runners at the Oregon Invitational this weekend.
Swanson knocked eight seconds off his ACC Championship-winning time in the steeplechase to solidify an NCAA qualifying effort in that event.
Other top finishers for the Demon Deacons were Janelle Kraus in the 3,000 meters (4th, 9:44.27), Hunter Kemper in the 10,000 meters (4th, 30:20.37) and Garrett Putman in the 400 meters (4th (48.85).
Chrissy Person and Jill Snyder also recorded NCAA provisional qualifying times in the 1,500 meters, placing sixth and ninth respectively. Persons time of 4:22.49 is the best in the ACC this year, while Snyder was close behind at 4:23.83.
