Demon Deacons Run at NCAA Southeast Regional

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams were on the course Friday, Nov. 11, for the 2016 NCAA Southeast Regional. In the women's race, the Demon Deacons finished fifth out of the 32-team field while the men's side claimed 16th overall (29 teams).
The top-four finishers on the women's side for Wake Forest finished within six places of each other, as the Deacs earned 27th, 29th, 31st and 33rd-place finishes in the 6k race. Mimi Smith was the top finisher for Wake Forest as she crossed the line in 21:10.5. She was followed closely by Ellie Abrahamson (21:15.9), Samantha Halvorsen (21:22.2) and Cate Allen (21:28.7). Isabelle Harouche rounded out Wake Forest's scoring effort when she finished in a time of 22:04.5 to claim 70th.
For the Demon Deacon men, the team was led by a 42nd-place finish by Harry Warnick in the 10k. The graduate transfer crossed the line in 30:27.6 to lead the Deacs. Wake Forest also earned scoring efforts from Craig Corti (30:41.3), Myers McKinney (31:38.3), Andrew Magiera (32:05.9) and Peter Millsaps (32:34.9). The quartet finished in 52nd, 97th, 120th and 143rd-place, respectively.
