CARY, N.C. -- The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams took to the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. Friday morning for the 2016 ACC Championship. The women's side finished in eighth place while the men's team claimed 13th.

The women scored 207 points as a team which put the Deacs in a three-way tie with Clemson and Pitt for sixth overall but fell to eighth due to tiebreakers. As a team, the men's side scored a total of 345 points.

Mimi Smith was the top Demon Deacon to finish as her 28th-place time of 20:50.4 in the women's 6k earned the Deacs 26 points. Cate Allen claimed 33rd with a time of 21:01.8 to secure 31 points while Samantha Halvorsen earned 33 points with a time of 21:04.9. Ellie Abrahamson (21:19.8) and Kathryn Lazarchick (21:47.3) rounded out the scoring effort for the Deacs, who improved four spots from the preseason coaches poll ranking of 12th.

Craig Corti was the first Deac to cross the men's 8k, claiming 30th place with a time of 24:08.8. Harry Warnick (25:02.3) and Andrew Magiera (25:16.9) earned 69 and 76 points, respectively. The Deacs' scoring effort was rounded out by Myers McKinney (25:25.0) and Angelos Vasileiou (25:45.3).

Wake Forest is back in action one final time before the NCAA Southeast Regional, as the Deacs return to Cary to run at the Three Stripe Invite on Saturday, Nov. 5.
