Deacs' Nolan Swanson Breaks Two Meet Records

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- Wake Forest senior Nolan Swanson broke two meet records in the Wake Forest Relays held over the weekend at the Kentner Outdoor Track & Field Stadium on the Wake Forest campus.
Swanson won the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:48.01 breaking the old record of 3:49.41 set by Michigan's Jay Cantin in 1997. In the 3,000 meters, Swanson shattered the old mark of 8:21.32 set by Virginia Tech's Travis Walter in 1992 with a winning time of 8:17.24.
Wake's Jon Russell was also a winner for the men as he won the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:42.85. The Wake Forest men's 4x100 meters relay team finished second with a time of 41.89.
On the women's side, the Deacs owned the top three spots in the 800 meters. Senior Chrissy Person won the event with a time of 2:10.81. She was followed by teammates, Jill Snyder and Summer Shaw, who finished with times of 2:11.96 and 2:16.01 respectively.
Other winners for Wake Forest in the women's events included sophomore Janelle Kraus and freshman Summer Shaw. Kraus won the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:53.29. Shaw won the pole vault with a vault of 2.54 meters. This is the first season that the women's pole vault has been a part of the NCAA program and the Wake Forest Relays.
