Men's Cross Country Finishes Third at Tennessee Invitational

KNOXVILLE, TN - Senior Matt Shady led the Wake Forest men's cross country team to a third place finish at the Tennessee Invitational on Friday morning in Knoxville, Tenn.
Wake Forest tallied 67 points in the meet, finishing behind only first-place Tennessee (42 points) and second-place Ohio State (49). Florida (83), Indiana (109), UNC Asheville (195) and LSU (198) rounded out the field of seven teams.
Shady was Wake Forest's top individual on the day, clearing the 8,000 meter course in a time of 25:58.22 to finish seventh in the event. Ohio State's Ian Connor was the individual champion with a time of 25:22.56.
The Demon Deacons placed five runners in the top 20, including freshman Mike Altieri (12th), sophomore Stephan Pro (13th), junior Joe DeGutis (15th) and freshman Sean Nagorny (20th).
The men's cross country squad will next be in action at the Greensboro Invitational on Saturday, September 26.
