Men's Golf Seventh After Two Rounds at Cuscowilla Intercollegiate

EATONTON, Ga.-- The Wake Forest men's golf team recorded a team score of 292 in the second round of play to remain in seventh place at the Cuscowilla Intercollegiate golf tournament, played on the 6,718-yard, par-70 course at the Cuscowilla Golf Club in Eatonton, Ga. Georgia Tech and Clemson stand in a tie for first place with a two-round total of 567, holding a one-stroke ahead of third-place North Carolina. The Demon Deacons, tied for seventh place with East Tennessee State, are 18 strokes back of the leaders with a two-round total of 585. Kent State's Ben Curtis holds a one-stroke lead in the individual standings after firing 68-69=137 in the first two rounds. Wake Forest sophomore Jamie Gallacher (Surrey, England/Bradfield College) shot a 73 in the second round to remain in the top 20 at 4-over par, while senior Todd Lynch (Winston-Salem, NC/North Forsyth) is in 26th place after shooting a 72 in round two. Senior Ryan Gioffre (Greensboro, NC/Greensboro Day) is tied for 33rd at 8-over, while senior Ray Floyd, Jr. (Miami Beach, FL/Miami Country Day) is tied for 40th at 10-over. Junior Oscar Sanchez (Canary Island, Spain/Leadbetter Academy-FL) , who shot an 81 in the first round, regrouped with a 72 in the second round to move up to 50th place at 14-over par.
The final round of play continues Tuesday morning.
