After two critical victories last week in a period of 36 hours, the Demon Deacons look to continue a late-season push to a first-division finish in the ACC this week with two more important league contests--the first coming here tonight against 3rd-ranked North Carolina. The Deacs lost to the Tar Heels on January 31st, 79-73.
Wake Forest concludes regular season play at home on Sunday against NCState. Tipoff time for that matchup is 4 p.m.
THE HEAD COACH - The ACC Coach of the Year in three of the last seven seasons (1991, 1994, 1995), DAVE ODOM is in his ninth season at Wake Forest. During the past eight years, Odom has built the Demon Deacon program into one of the most highly regarded in the country. The Deacs have won 20-or-more games five straight seasons under Odom and appeared in seven consecutive NCAA Tournaments. Only six other schools have longer active streaks of NCAA postseason participation.
Odom's winning percentage at Wake Forest is an impressive 67%. The last five years, the Deacons have averaged 23 victories per season under Odom's guidance, finished no lower than third in the ACC regular season race, and reached the NCAA
