Men's Tennis Routs Northeast Louisiana

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest men's tennis team defeated Northeast Louisiana 6-1 Friday night at the Indoor Tennis Center. The Deacons improved their season mark to 3-1. The match is part of the 1998 Wake Forest Invitational that also features teams from William & Mary, Virginia Tech, and Appalachian State.
Wake Forest started strongly as it swept the doubles matches. Jimmy Chou and Michael Berger impressed at No. 3 with an 8-3 win. The Deacons' star doubles team of Raul Munoz and Myles Clouston (ranked 38th in the nation) battled back from a 4-1 deficit to win at No. 1.
The Deacons continued their solid play in singles competition. Clouston won in three sets at No. 1, and Billy Gluck, Johan Hansen, and Berger had little trouble at Nos. 3-5. Raul Munoz provided the final point for the Deacons with a three set win at No. 6.
The Demon Deacons return to action tomorrow afternoon when they face 29th-ranked Virginia Tech at 4:00 p.m. Northeast Louisiana and William & Mary will play an earlier match at noon.
