No. 1 Demon Deacons Set For Pair of Big Four Road Matchups

Wake Forest will begin a four-match road stretch before returning home for the regular season finale against NC State on Saturday, April 11.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Days after regaining the top spot in the ITA team rankings, the Wake Forest men's tennis team will look to carry the momentum into a four-match road stretch beginning this weekend against Big Four rivals North Carolina and Duke.
The match against the No. 47-ranked Tar Heels will take place on Friday with first serve slated for 5 p.m. at the Chewning Tennis Center. The Demon Deacons have taken 11 of the last 14 meetings with North Carolina dating back to 2015.
On Sunday at 1 p.m., the Deacs and Blue Devils will meet at the Ambler Outdoor Tennis Stadium. Despite dropping the last three matches in the series, Wake Forest won eight in a row before that and will look to return to its dominance over Duke this weekend.
Overall against Big Four opposition, head coach Tony Bresky is a stellar 32-20 (.615) for his career including an above .500 mark in road environments (10-9).
Additionally, Wake Forest has won 23-consecutive ACC regular season matches following a flawless run last year and has taken a total of 124 conference victories since the start of the 2013 campaign, good for second during that span.

Following Wake Forest's recent win over Virginia, the Deacs are the last remaining unbeaten team in ACC play and sit alone atop the regular season standings. Of note, the ACC regular season crown could once again come down to the final day as NC State visits Winston-Salem on April 11.

Wake Forest has earned its place at the top through 25 matches so far this season with wins against three of the current top five teams in the nation. In total since the start of last season, the Deacs have secured 15 victories against top-10 opponents and 10 against teams inside the top five.

With nine matches remaining, the Demon Deacons hold a combined 82-17 record in singles and a 49-9 mark in doubles, including 10 sweeps in their last 12 matches (six of eight in ACC play). Sophomore Joaquin Guilleme leads the team with an incredible 16-2 singles record, followed by Luca Pow at 15-3.
Freshmen Standouts
Wake Forest freshmen have accounted for 32 wins this season, led by three-time ACC Freshman of the Week Mees Rottgering (10-2) and recent breakthrough star Dominick Mosejczuk, who remains a perfect 11-0 in singles play.
Demon Deacon Depth
The Deacs have put together one of the deepest lineups in the sport and have proven it week after week. Wake Forest has a 50-6 combined singles record on courts four, five and six. Additionally, the team has dropped one of those three courts just three times since the start of ACC play.
Chasing History
DK Suresh and Luca Pow have played a major role in Wake Forest's success over the last three years and have been climbing up the program record books. Suresh is already seventh all time in career doubles wins (91) and Pow is two away from cracking the top 10 himself.

Last Time Out (vs. #1 Virginia/Longwood)
In the biggest match of the 2026 campaign so far, the No. 4-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team outlasted top-ranked Virginia, 4-2, and took control of the ACC before grabbing another win over Longwood (4-0) Sunday at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
The Demon Deacons (23-2, 8-0 ACC) secured their fourth win all-time over a No. 1-ranked team on Sunday and have now accomplished the feat in back-to-back seasons. Additionally, this marks the 17th win over a top-ranked opponent in Wake Forest sports history.
Additionally, the Demon Deacons extended their nation-leading home match winning streak to 44 with victories in all three of this weekend's matches. Since 2013, Wake Forest has the most home wins (241) in the country and the second-most overall wins (379).
Also with the win, the Demon Deacons are in firm control of the ACC regular season as the last remaining unbeaten in conference play with an 8-0 record.
Wake Forest dominated the doubles point against the Cavaliers as sophomore Charlie Robertson and junior Luca Pow took down No. 31 Kim/Dahlberg, 6-1, just seconds before sophomore Kacper Szymkowiak and freshman Mees Rottgering closed their match out, 6-0.
Pow and Robertson extended their team-lead to 10 wins as a duo while Szymkowiak and Rottgering remained perfect at 5-0 as a pair.
In the second match, Szymkowiak teamed up with fellow sophomore Cornelius Shalmi and grabbed a 6-2 victory on court three before redshirt freshman Andrew Delgado and freshman Aryan Shah clinched the 22nd doubles point of the season and 14th in a row.
After taking the first set on four of the six singles courts against the Cavaliers, the Demon Deacons closed it out on three, five and six.
Already one of the winningest singles players in the recent era of Wake Forest tennis, Pow continued to cement himself as a legend in the Old Gold & Black. The Englishman took down No. 110 Jangjun Kim in straight sets (7-5, 6-3) and put the Deacs up 2-1 on the Cavaliers. He followed that up with a quick and easy 6-0, 6-1 victory over Rufus Plane of Longwood on court two for his 10th-consecutive win.
Pow now sits at 93 singles wins through his three seasons as a Deac, which is just eight behind David Loewenthal (2001-04) for 10th. Combined, he has contributed to 181 combined singles and doubles victories.
Just seconds after the court three win against Virginia, sophomore standout Joaquin Guilleme wrapped up his team-leading 16th singles win of the season as he downed Mans Dahlberg (6-1, 7-6[2]) on court five. He was down 5-6, 15-40 in the second set before winning three-consecutive points and dominating the tiebreak.
With the Demon Deacons leading 3-2, undefeated freshman Dominick Mosejczuk came back from down a break in the second set and secured a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Stiles Brockett on court six and clinched the massive win for the hosts. The New York native is now 11-0 this spring in singles to go along with a 9-1 doubles record.
Against the Lancers, Szymkowiak earned a 6-0, 6-1 win against Ninad Raut for his fourth win of the year before Delgado clinched Wake Forest's 16th-consecutive win with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Alejandro Uribe on court six. Delgado is now a perfect 6-0 in singles and 12-0 in doubles this spring.
The Bresky Era
Since arriving at Wake Forest, head coach Tony Bresky has enjoyed a highly-decorated career, winning ITA National Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2025, along with garnering ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2013, 2016 and 2025.
Bresky led Wake Forest to its first-ever national title in 2018, after accumulating a 33-2 mark and most recently led one of the most dominant seasons in collegiate tennis history as the Deacs won 40 matches en route to capturing the ACC regular season title, ITA Indoor Title and NCAA Championship.
Individually, Bresky has coached two ACC Players of the Year (Noah Rubin and Melios Efstathiou), along with 40 All-ACC selections and 12 ITA Singles All-Americans.
During his tenure at Wake Forest, Bresky has amassed 393 wins. Of note, early in 2023 with a victory over No. 6 Tennessee, Bresky became the winningest coach in program history, surpassing the legendary Jim Leighton. Most recently against Texas, he reached the 400-career win mark including his 26 victories at Cornell.
