Women's Golf Coach Takes Second Position

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.--Wake Forest head women's golf coach and associate athletic director Dianne Dailey has been named an associate director of the College Golf Foundation, it was announced today. Dailey will serve in an advisory capacity to the non-profit organization in addition to coaching the Demon Deacon women's team. Former Texas men's golf coach Jimmy Clayton was also named to a similar position with the CGF. Dailey, who became head coach at Wake Forest in 1988, has been instrumental in building one of the top-ranked collegiate women's programs in the nation. Dailey has led the Deacons to three top 10 finishes in the NCAA Championships in the last six years, including a third-place finish in 1995.
Dailey was named the ACC Coach of the Year in 1994 and 1995 after leading Wake Forest to the ACC title in each of those seasons. She was also recognized by the National Golf Coaches' Association (NGCA) as the winner of the 1995 Gladys Palmer Service Award. Dailey, who has also served as president of the NGCA, was named District Coach of the Year by the NGCA in 1994 and 1996, and the Southeast Coach of the Year by the LPGA in 1994. In addition to the team's success, Dailey has coached some of the top individual players in the country. She has served as a mentor to four All-Americans in her tenure, including at least one in eight of the last nine years.
Dailey also serves as an associate athletic director and the senior women's administrator at Wake Forest, overseeing a variety of other Olympic sports programs.
"I am looking forward to working with other coaches more closely in my new affiliation with the College Golf Foundation," said Dailey. "I envision myself being a voice for women's coaches, presenting their thoughts, ideas and opinions to the CGF in order to make its programs as successful as possible.
The College Golf Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in the Spring of 1995 with the corporate support of Rolex Watch U.S.A. and also sustained by an alliance with MasterCard International, is dedicated to the growth and promotion of men's an collegiate women's golf.
