Women's Golf Finishes Eighth at Lady Seminole Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Wake Forest women's golf team used consisted play over the weekend to finish eighth out of 21 teams at the Lady Seminole Invitational in Tallahassee, FL. The tournament was played on the 5,925-yard, par-72 layout at the Seminole Golf Course. The Demon Deacons finished the 54 hole event with a team total of 300-295-303=898, or 34-over par. Wake finished 27 shots behind the pace of team champion North Carolina (288-291-292=871). Junior Kelly Kirwin (Grand Rapids, MN) led the Deacon individuals in the field as she finished with a five-over-par total of 72-76-73=221, which placed her in a three-way tie for tenth place. She was 13 strokes behind individual champion Jenny Dugan of Kentucky who scorched the Seminole Golf Course for a eight-under-par total of 66-72-70=208.
Joining Kirwin in the tournament's top-25 were freshman Kathryn Brenny (Little Falls, MN) at 78-72-75=225 and sophomore Marta Prieto (Sevilla, Spain) at 74-73-78=225, whose nine-over-par totals placed them among four players tied for 21st place. The other Deacons in the field were freshman Camille Lee (Orlando, FL) who finished in a three-way tie for 43rd place at 76-77-77=230 and senior Kristen Wagner (Martinsville, IN) who was one of four players tied for 58th place at 79-74-81=234.
The Deacons will return to action next weekend, September 25-27 when they travel to Chapel Hill, NC for the Lady Tar Heel Invitational at the Chapel Hill Country Club.
