WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Pitcher John Hendricks and first baseman Jon Palmieri, two key individual ingredients in Wake Forest winning the ACC Championship this past week, have been named to the 1998 Collegiate Baseball All-America team.
Hendricks, who led the ACC in victories (13, a new WFU record), complete games (11), earned run average (2.67) and innings pitched (138), was a second-team pick.
Palmieri, the league leader in batting average (.444) and RBIs (77), was named to the third team.
Both players began NCAA play with the Demon Deacons today in an opening round contest against Illinois in the South Regional in Gainesville, FL.
