Two Volleyball Players Earn ACC Honors

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Freshmen Trina Maso de Moya (Ft. Lauderdale, FL.) and Margaret Davidson (Birmingham, AL) have been selected to the 1998 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Freshmen Volleyball team. The announcement came during this past weekend's ACC Tournament.
Maso de Moya, a two-time ACC Rookie-of-the-Week pick, led the league in the digs per game with a 4.41 average and was sixth in the league with 3.80 kills per game, tops on the team in both categories. She was also seventh in the nation in digs per game as of the last reporting period (Nov. 8).
Her 34 digs against Clemson on Oct. 21 set a school record for most digs in a single match. She also set the WFU record for digs in a season with 496.
Davidson finished the season averaging 1.34 blocks per game, second in the ACC. Her 119 total blocks this season is also the most blocks recorded by a Deacon in any single season.
Wake Forest finished the season with a record of 21-12 overall and 7-9 in the ACC.
