LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The ninth-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team defeated the Miami (Ohio) Red Hawks 6-1 in a tournament here Saturday.

Jennie Shelton and Jenny Everett each scored a goal in the first half to give the Deacons a 2-0 lead at halftime. Shelton's goal came at the 18:55 mark off an assist from Amy Marchell. Everett scored her goal with just 5:27 to go in the first half.

Wake Forest scored two more goals early in the second half to increase its lead to 4-0 before Miami put its only goal on the board at the 19:13 mark in the game. The Deacons added two more to make the final score 6-1.

Everett and Jemima Cameron scored two goals apiece to lead Wake Forest to the victory. Shelton and Marchell added a goal each.

With the win Wake Forest improves to 6-0 on the season. The Deacons will play the University of the Pacific here on Sunday at noon.
