CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Sophomore JAY MORGAN led the field of 75 golfers as the Wake Forest men's golf team jumped to an impressive 13-stroke lead after the first two rounds of the Cavalier Classic golf tournament at the University of Virginia's Birdwood Golf Course. Playing with a lineup of one sophomore and four freshmen, the Demon Deacons recorded back-to-back team rounds below par, shooting a 3-under 285 in the first round and an 8-under 280 in round two. Three Deacons currently stand in the individual top ten after shooting consecutive under-par scores today. Morgan shot 70-68 to take the individual lead at 6-under, he stands two strokes ahead of Furman's Kirk Satterfield (-4). Freshmen BUCK WILLIAMS (70-71=141) is part of a three-way tie for third place at 3-under, and BRENT WANNER (71-71=142) stands alone in sixth place at 2-under.
