TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Wake Forest women's soccer team lost 2-0 to Florida State Saturday evening at the Florida State Soccer Complex. The 22nd ranked Seminoles collected their first ACC victory since 1998, as well as a first-ever win over Wake Forest. The 20th ranked Demon Deacons outshot Florida State 17-7, firing 12 shots on goal, but none got past Seminole goalkeeper Sarah Crawford, who earned the shutout victory.
Emma Breland scored the game-winning goal for the Noles in the 35th minute of play. She was assisted by Sarah Deacon and Maren Vik Edvardsen. Edvardsen added a goal with less than two minutes remaining assisted by Meredith Jones. Emily Taggart led the Deacs with six shots and Wake Forest goalkeeper Tracy Chao had two saves on the night.
The Seminoles improve their record to 10-4 overall and 1-2 in the ACC. The Demon Deacons fall to 6-6-1 overall and 1-2 in the ACC. Wake Forest returns to action Thursday, Oct. 12 when it hosts No. 15 Virginia at 7:00 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
