Tallahassee, FL - The Wake Forest volleyball team lost its sixth conference match of the season, dropping a 3-2 ( 8-15, 15-1, 15-8, 7-15, 16-18) heartbreaker at Florida State Friday evening.

The Deacons came out sluggish in the first game, scoring only eight points. The Deacs' defense allowed 20 kills by the Seminoles and a .444 hitting percentage. Wake knocked down kills at a decent .268 clip, but was unable to sustain a decided advantage. Wake Forest came back strong in the second game, however, cruising out to a 13-0 lead before wrapping up the 15-1 game. The Deacons held Florida State to a -.150 hitting percentage, while killing nine balls of their own.

The third game presented a similar situation, with the Deacons jumping out to a 12-0 advantage. Florida State mounted a furious comeback, but dropped the game 15-8 to trail Wake 2-1 heading into the fourth game. The fourth game resembled the first, as the Seminoles took an 11-5 lead over the Deacons. Wake attempted to wrap up the match, but fell short in the 15-7 loss.

The fifth and deciding game was perhaps the most competitive of the match. Each team swapped leads throughout the rally-scored game. Wake Forest kept the game close, but fell behind 17-16 as Seminole Alex Sevillano stepped up to serve. The Florida State front line delivered a block to end the Deacons' hopes of pulling out their ninth conference win of the season.

Junior outside hitter Trina Maso de Moya led the Deacs with 23 kills and 19 digs. Junior middle blocker Margaret Davidson chipped in 18 kills, while senior middle blocker Corie Miles bolstered the Deacon defense with 11 digs. Sophomore setter Ashlee Phillips assisted on 54 balls, while Davidson collected four total blocks.

Four Seminoles tallied double-figure kill totals. Jennifer Werrick and Norisha Campbell each registered 14 kills, while setter Jennifer Anderson recorded a team-high 50 assists.

The Deacons fall to 17-8 overall and 8-6 in conference play. The team returns back to Reynolds Gym November 10 and 11 for the last two Wake Forest matches of the regular season with Virginia and Maryland.
