Wake Women's Golf Finishes Third At Casa De Campo

LA ROMONA, Dominican Republic - The Wake Forest women's golf team finished third in the Casa De Campo Ladies Intercollegiate Golf Tournament with a three-day total of 933 this weekend in the Dominican Republic.
Leading the way for the Deacons was freshman Nuria Clau, who shot a three-round 229 to tie for third place. Clau, ranked 25th in the MasterCard collegiate golf rankings, shot a team-best 74 on the first day of play. Kelly Kirwin was Wake's second finisher. Kirwin, a senior, shot a 77 on days one and three to finish with a three-round 234. Freshman Maria Beautell shot a 237 in the three-day event. Junior Marta Prieto also carded a 74 on the first day of the event. She finished with a score of 238. Katie Brenny was Wake Forest's final finisher in La Romana. Brenny carded a 247 for the weekend.
Auburn's Danielle Downey took individual honors. Downey shot a par 72 on the second day, and finished with a three-round score of 222. Duke won team honors with a 918 at the tournament.
Wake Forest, ranked 10th in the MasterCard rankings, will co-host the Bryan National Collegiate with UNC Greensboro March 24-26 at the Bryan Park Players Course in Browns Summit, NC.
