No. 8 Wake Forest Heads South for Old Barnwell

AIKEN, S.C. – Looking to repeat a second consecutive title, the No. 8 Wake Forest women's golf team returns to the Old Barnwell Derby in Aiken, S.C. for the third installment of the tournament.
Due to inclement weather, day one of the tournament will begin on Sunday, Mar. 15 with no play on Mon. Mar. 16, and the final round on Tues., Mar. 17. Wake Forest will tee off hole one at 9:15 ET and go head-to-head with No. 22 South Carolina.
The Deacs are one of seven other teams inside the top-25 competing in the upcoming tournament, with ACC competitors No. 11 Duke and No. 18 Florida State making appearances.
In 2025, Wake Forest defeated the No. 4 South Carolina Gamecocks to secure the team title, with then junior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen grabbing a point to push the Deacs towards victory.
How About Them Deacs'?
Wake Forest continues to dominate in match play boasting a 19-2 record since the 2023 national championship. Notably, the Deacs two most recent match play victories were over the Stanford Cardinal, the last at the 2025 Jackson T. Stephens Cup this past fall.
Last Time Out (Darius Rucker Intercollegiate)
The no.6-ranked Wake Forest women's golf team tied for a sixth place finish amid a challenging group of highly-ranked teams. The Demon Deacons finished the week with 40 birdies to tie for fourth of the 17 teams, tallying 13 during the third round.
Recording her second consecutive top-10 finishes, junior Macy Pate carded her lone under par round of the competition with three birdies. The two-time All-ACC selection was second individually on par-3s, averaging a score at two-under. Freshman Cartoon Rujiranan matched Pate's round and jumped 13 spots from the previous day.
