Wake Women's Tennis Defeats No. 35 Clemson, 8-1

CLEMSON, S.C. -- The second-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team defeated the 35th-ranked Clemson Tigers 8-1 on Sunday.

Wake won five of the six singles matches and the Deacons swept the three doubles matches for the 8-1 win. Freshman Bea Bielik played at No. 1 singles, defeating Carmina Giraldo 7-5, 6-3. Adria Engel defeated Cath Galvin 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 and Janet Bergman defeated Renata Brito 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.

With the win, Wake improves to 10-1 overall and 2-0 in the ACC. Wake will play again on Tuesday, March 21 when they host the Tennessee Lady Vols. The match is set for 2:30 p.m.
