WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The fourth-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team defeated the 15th-ranked William & Mary Tribe 6-3 on Saturday.
Freshman Adria Engel won at No. 1 singles, defeating Carlijn Buis 6-4, 6-4. Fellow freshman Bea Bielik defeated Carolijn van Rossum 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. Maren Haus won at No. 4, defeating Jessyea Arthur 6-4, 6-1 and Jackie Houston defeated Lindsay Sullivan 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5. In doubles, Bielik and Janet Bergman defeated Buis and Delphine Troch 8-4 at the No. 1 spot and Haus and Annemarie Milton won at No. 2, defeating Arthur and Sullivan 8-6.
The win was the Deacons' tenth in a row and ran the team's record to 13-1. Wake will be back in action on Wednesday, April 5 when they travel to Durham to take on the 11th-ranked Duke Blue Devils. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
