Wake Tennis Players Earn Flight Championships

NORCROSS, Ga. - Members of the Wake Forest men's and women's tennis teams were selected as ACC Flight Champions at the ACC Championships this weekend.
From the women's team, sophomore Janet Bergman was selected as the No. 3 Singles Champion. Bergman, the 1999 ACC Freshman of the Year, was 7-0 against ACC competition this year and is currently ranked 40th nationally by the ITA. Also from the women's team, Bergman and freshman Bea Bielik were selected as the No. 1 Doubles Champion. Bergman and Bielik posted a 7-0 ACC record this season and currently rank 34th in the ITA poll.
For the men's team, Justin Kaufmann and Trent Brendon were selected from the No. 3 doubles spot. The duo was 4-3 against ACC teams this season.
Both teams open competition in the ACC Tournament today. Both teams will be playing the North Carolina Tar Heels. The men face UNC at 12 p.m. and the women will take on the Tar Heels at 3 p.m.
