WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team has been selected as one of eight teams in the Mid-Atlantic/East District to compete in the NCAA East Regional Championships at Ohio State University May 11-13.
Wake Forest, ranked 10th overall in the GolfWeek/Sagarin polls and 11th nationally in the MasterCard rankings, is seeded 2nd in the Mid-Atlantic/East District behind top-seeded Duke. The three-round regional tournament will be held at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, OH. The Demon Deacons participated in the Lady Buckeye Fall Invitational, also held on the Scarlet Course, this past October.
"We're very pleased to be invited to the regional and we're looking forward to playing the Scarlet Course again," Head Coach Dianne Dailey said. "Hopefully, we'll be among the 11 teams to qualify for the finals."
The championships finals, hosted by Oregon State University, will be held at the Crosswater Course at the Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, OR May 24-27. Eleven teams and three individuals will be invited from both the East Regional and the West Regional. The remaining two team berths will be allocated to the region with the most teams ranked in the top-24.
