Demon Deacon B Team Takes Fourth At Wolfpack Invitational

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's cross country B team took fourth place with 107 points at the Wolfpack Invitational Saturday morning. Giving her best runners the day off, Wake Forest head coach Annie Schweitzer Bennett took seven other Demon Deacons to University Club, a brand new course in Raleigh, N.C., where the ACC Championships will be held on Oct. 28. Wake Forest's men's squad did not compete this weekend.

North Carolina State swept both the men's and women's races. Wolfpack runner David Patterson took the individual title in the men's race with a time of 23:38. The men ran on a 7,400 meter course (regulation is 8,000m) with 11 teams. Beth Fonner, also from NC State, took the top honors in the women's race with a time of 18:40. The women ran a 5,224 meter course (regulation is 5,000m) with 14 teams.

Denise Hefferin led the Deacs, placing 12th overall with a time of 19:52. Lauren May finished 14th at 19:56. Nicole Kalogeropoulos took 21st place with the time 20:09. Catherine Fortin-Major ran a 20:23, good for 25th overall and Adralyn Wendel rounded out the Wake Forest B team top five, placing 35th with a time of 20:46.

Wake Forest will return to action Saturday, Sept. 23 when both the men's and women's teams travel to the Twin Cities in Minnesota for the Roy Griak Invitational.
