WINSTON SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest head women's golf coach Dianne Dailey,in her 13th season at the Deacon helm, was inducted into the National Golf Coaches Association's Hall of Fame Wednesday evening in Orlando,FL.
Dailey led the Deacons, ranked in the top 20 throughout last season, to a return trip to the NCAA Championships last spring. In the past seven seasons, Wake Forest has finished in the top 10 three times, including a third-place showing in 1995. She has been named ACC Coach of the Year two times (1994, 1995), in addition to being named District Coach of the Year by the NGCA on three occasions (1994, 1996, 2000). The women's golf program has produced six All-Americans, including four during Dailey's tenure.
Her leadership does not end on the course. In previous seasons, Dailey served as chairman of the NCAA Golf Committee, heading up NCAA Championships as well as setting the rules for collegiate golf. She is also the Associate Director of the College Golf Foundation. A native of Frankfort, KY, Dailey graduated from Salem College in 1971 and earned a master's degree from NC State University. After working in an administrative role at Salem for three years, she played professional golf until her arrival at Wake Forest in 1988.
"I am so fortunate to be a part of the golf tradition at Wake Forest - it's one of the best programs in the country," Dailey said. "I am grateful to the administration for its support and to the student-athletes who make it happen."
Wake Forest will open its spring season February 23-25 at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, FL.
