Women's Golf Competes In Lady Paladin Invitational This Weekend

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - No. 22 Wake Forest women's golf travels to Greenville, S.C. to participate in the Lady Paladin Invitational this weekend hosted by Furman University. The Invitational boasts 12 of the 21 teams ranked in the top 50 by www.golfweek.com. The Invite will be held this Friday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Oct. 28.
The tournament will be played at the Furman University Golf Course that features 5,917 yards and a par 72. The 2001 field of 21 teams includes top-ranked Auburn, Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, (15) Florida, Furman, Louisville, Memphis, (12) Michigan State, (21) Louisiana State, (20) North Carolina, UNC Greensboro, (2) Ohio State, (23) Purdue, (35) South Carolina, (24) TCU, (41) Tulane, (5) Vanderbilt, (22) Wake Forest, Winthrop and Wofford.
Auburn took the team and individual champion honors last year. As a team they scored 877 and their own Celeste Troche shot 210 to capture first place.
Wake finished fourth in the Tar Heel Invitational three weeks ago. Junior Nuria Clau led the Deacons, finishing third with seven-over par. Sophomore Deborah Means finished tied for 27th place (234), senior Katie Brenny tied for 32nd place (235), freshman Christine Hallstrom finished tied for 32nd place (235) and junior Caroline Stetler finished tied for 50th (242). Senior Maria Beautell competed individually, earning her best finish of the season at 21st place with 26-over par.
Wake boasts a player ranked in the top 50. Clau was ranked 35th by golfweek.com on Oct. 22 and as well Means ranked 77th.
