
Men's Cross Country Finishes 19th At NCAA Championships

GREENVILLE, SC - The Wake Forest men's cross country finished 19th out of 31 teams Monday morning at the NCAA Championships on Furman University's 10,000m cross country course. Senior Chris Estwanik led the Demon Deacons with a time of 30:27 for 48th place. Anne Bersagel, the lone qualifier from the Wake Forest women's cross country team, finished 57th overall with a time of 21:45 on the 6,000m course.
Led by Estwanik, the men's team put their five scoring runners in the Top 110. Ted DeVos ran a 31:10 for 95th, Garick Hill came in 98th with a time of 31:12, Nathan Sisco placed 100th in 31:13 and Philip Wiles ran a 31:20 for 109th place. Eduardo Acosta finished 133rd with a time of 31:36 and Sean Nagorny placed 159th with a time of 31:59.
The Demon Deacon men's squad, ranked 19th in the final coaches poll, lived up to its billing by finishing 19th place with 450 points at the National Championship. Wake Forest trailed 18th place finisher Michigan State by one point and finished ahead of 20th place Arizona State by 27 points. It was the ninth overall appearance in the NCAA Championships for the Wake Forest men's team - all nine resulting in top 20 finishes.
Colorado won the men's NCAA Championship and Boaz Chboiywo from Eastern Michigan was the individual champion.
