Women's Cross Country Inks Franklin

Wake Forest Track and Field Director Annie Schweitzer Bennett announced the signing of three standout track and field athletes on Wednesday. Lindsay Neuberger, a senior thrower at Frank W. Cox High in Virginia Beach, VA, Erin Franklin, a senior distance runner at Wissahickon High in Ambler, PA, and Adam Gabrault, a senior thrower at Toll Gate High in Warwick, RI, have all signed letters of intent to compete for the Demon Deacons next year.
Neuberger is the nation's top shot putter in her class with a personal record of 49'4.5". The 2001 Virginia State Champion in both the Shot Put and Discus Throw, Neuberger holds the Virginia state record in the Shot Put. Named the Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year for Virginia last year, Neuberger was a member of the USA Junior World team that competed in Hungary. She won the Shot Put at the 2001 Penn Relays, USATF National Championships and the AAU National Championships, setting records at each event. Neuberger earned All-American honors in both the indoor and outdoor Shot Put last year and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Franklin is coming off a sixth place finish at the Pennsylvania state cross country meet. She won multiple cross country meets this fall for Wissahickon High, setting numerous course records along the way. Franklin also was the individual champion at the prestigious William Tennet Invitational.
