Women's Tennis Cripples Virginia Commonwealth, 6-1

WINSTON-SALEM, NC-- The 20th ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team defeated Virginia Commonwealth 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the Wake Forest University Indoor Tennis Center. The Rams took the number one singles match and the number two doubles, but the Demon Deacons won all the rest.
Bea Bielik, the number four-ranked singles player in the country, lost the number one match in a high caliber matchup with VCU's Andrea Ondrisova, the sixth ranked player in the nation. Bielik, who is also ranked fourth in the country in doubles with her partner Janet Bergman, earned an 8-2 victory in the number one doubles match. Bergman, who is ranked eighth in singles, battled past VCU's No. 77 Anca Dumitrescu 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.
Virginia Commonwealth falls to 3-1 on the season while Wake Forest improves to 4-4 on the year. The Demon Deacons will return to action 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27 when the Deacs host South Carolina.
