Columbia, SC - The Wake Forest women's golf team wrapped up round two of the Lady Gamecock Classic in Columbia, SC with a team score of 620 and a fourth place finish. The Deacs are tied with host South Carolina and trail leader Georgia by 31 strokes.
Sophomore Maria Beautell led the Deacons on day two of the event, carding a two-over 74 to finish with a two-round score of 150. Beautell is tied for 13th place. Junior Camille Lee is also vying for her first career top-20 finish, placing in a tie for 22nd after 36 holes. Lee carded a 79 in Saturday's round and will enter the final round with a two-round 155. Sophomore Nuria Clau is on Lee's heels, finishing in a tie for 25th place after two rounds with a 156. Freshman Deb Means carded an 81 on the second 18 for a two-round 159 and will compete in the final round from 29th place. Sophomore Caroline Stetler rounds out the Deacon lineup, finishing the second round in a tie for 45th place after shooting a 165 through 36 holes.
LSU's Katy Harris and Meredith Duncan lead the field by one stroke, carding one-over 145s through the first two rounds. Georgia leads the team competition by two strokes over Duke, with a 13-over 589.
The Deacons will wrap up competition in a shotgun start at the Lady Gamecock on Sunday morning. Wake will take a week off before traveling to Athens, GA to compete in the Liz Murphey Collegiate March 30-April 2.
