Wake Golfers Drop To Sixth At Liz Murphey

Athens, GA - The Wake Forest women's golf squad will enter the final round of play at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic with a two-round team score of 617, after shooting a 303 in Saturday's round at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
Sophomore Maria Beautell continues to lead the Deacons, dropping from ninth place after one round to a tie for 12th place heading into the final 18. Beautell carded a five-over 77 for a two-round score of 151. Senior Marta Prieto dropped her score by four strokes from Friday's round, carding a 75 on the second 18 to tie for 24th with a two-round 154. Deacon junior Katie Brenny is close behind with a 155 through two rounds and her score ties her for 26th place. Brenny dropped her score by five strokes, shooting a 75 in the second round. Sophomore Nuria Clau improved her score by five strokes as well, moving up to a tie for 35th place with a 157. Sophomore Caroline Stetler lists in a tie for 87th place with a 170.
Duke continues to lead the field by 11 strokes over second place Georgia. The Blue Devils carded a 594 through two rounds of play. Texas' Randi Meadows broke out of the four-way tie from the first round to lead the field of individuals with a one-under 143. Alabama's Paula Carter and Georgia's Reilley Rankin each list in second place with a 147.
Wake Forest hits the links for the final round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate on Sunday morning at the UGA Golf Course in Athens, GA. Tee time is set for an 8:30 am shotgun start.
