ORLANDO, Fla. -
The Wake Forest men's golf team jumped ahead of Georgia Tech, taking a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the ACC men's golf championships, taking place at Disney's par 72, 7,093-yard Magnolia Course. The Deacons head into the final round with a 12-under par 564, one stroke ahead of the Yellow Jackets.
Three Deacons are currently listed among the top six individuals. Sophomore Brent Wanner and freshman Bill Haas are currently tied for second with a five-under par 139. Wanner, along with Virginia's Rusty Kennedy, shot a field-low 68 in Saturday's round. Haas turned in a one-under 71 to go with his first-round 68. Junior Jay Morgan is currently tied for sixth with a four-under 140. Morgan posted a 69 on Saturday after a first-round 71.
Other Deacon scores include Chris Yoder, who is tied for 26th with a three-over 147 and Cortland Lowe, who is 33rd with a five-over 149. The Deacons are playing with the youngest lineup among the nine ACC teams. With one junior, three sophomore and one freshman competing this weekend, they are the only school without a senior in the lineup.
Wake Forest will try to capture its 19th conference title and first since 1989 when the final round of the ACC championship tees off at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
