Women's Golf Heading Into Final Round Of ACC Championships

ORLANDO, Fla. -

The Wake Forest women's golf team posted a team score of 301 on the second day of the 2001 ACC Championships in Orlando, FL and will enter the final round of the event in second place with a two-round 613. The Deacs, who were two strokes off of leader Duke on the second 18, trail the Blue Devils by 21 strokes.

Junior Katie Brenny leads the Wake charge, shooting a two-over 74 in the second round and is tied for fourth place with a two-round 151. Senior Marta Prieto is tied for sixth place after shooting a one-over 73 on the second 18. She will enter the final round with a 152. Sophomore Nuria Clau is eighth after finishing the first two rounds of play with a 153. Freshman Deb Means lists in a three-way tie for 16th place with a two-round 160. Sophomore Maria Beautell, after carding an 82 in the second round, completed the first two rounds in a tie for 19th place. Beautell has a two-day score of 161.

The Deacons will compete in the final round of the 2001 ACC Championships on Sunday morning. Tee time is slated for 8:00 am at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, FL.
