Demon Deacon Post-Game Notes
Wake Forest improves to 40-15 on the season. The Demon Deacons will play in the 12:00 p.m. game on Saturday against top-seeded Florida State.
Junior closer Dave Bush made his 37th appearance this season, a single-season record for Wake Forest.
Bush earned his 15th save of the sesason, also a new single-season record at Wake Forest.
The Demon Deacons are now 35-0 when leading after seven innings.
Freshman starter Kyle Sleeth went a career-high seven innings. He allowed three runs on seven hits with six walks (two intentional) and four strikeouts. He retired 11 straight batters from the 2nd inning until there were two outs in the 5th inning. Brad Stockton's single to right field stopped that string.
Sophomore Stephen Ghutzman's two-run home run in the second inning was his fourth of the season. It was his first career ACC Tournament at-bat and his first homer since game two of the doubleheader at Charlotte on April 25.
Freshman Jamie D'Antona's solo home run to lead off the sixth inning was his 11th of the season, his first career ACC Tournament home run.
Senior Jason Aquilante's single in the third inning extended his personal hitting streak to 12 games.
Junior Dave Bush made his third consecutive appearance in as many nights. He last threw three straight days in 1999, when he threw 1.0 innings against UNC-Asheville May 10, 2.0 innings against Old Dominion May 11 and 0.1 innings against Liberty May 12.
