Head Coach George Greer On winning the ACC Tournament yesterday:
"It's a great thing. The ACC Tournament is one of the toughest to win in collegiate baseball. NC State's showing was remarkable - they just ran out of gas. They're as fine a team as we've played all year. But winning a tournament like the ACC, which is a strong conference with a great RPI, is a credit to our administration, which supports us, and our players. They've worked hard and have become a strong team."
On achieving success this season after overcoming injuries, losses to draft: "It's a remarkable story when you look back to last year's draft - we lose two outstanding freshmen in addition to the losses of Chase Voshell, Danny Borrell, and Dan Conway. Then we had to piece together a pitching staff after the injuries to Scott Siemon, Ben Clayton and Ryan Braun. We've had a lot of kids step up and lead us this season. Our freshmen pitchers have combined for 14 wins."
On going into the NCAA Tournament on a winning note: "It's good for morale purposes. We can do our normal routines, we don't have to pat guys on the back to get their confidence back up. It's a different state of mind."
Senior catcher Jason Aquilante On winning the ACC Tournament yesterday:
"It's pretty amazing. This senior class has won three tournaments in four years, and that ranks us up there as one of the best teams in ACC history. It's a tremendous achievement, and gives us a lot of momentum going into the NCAA Tournament."
On playing in Knoxville, Tenn. regional:
"I like that we're going to Tennessee. I like being somewhere closer rather than flying somewhere. I hope we can get some fans to come over and watch us."
On advancing in the NCAA Tournament:
"We need strong pitching. Pitching takes you where you want to go. We've been scoring runs on a consistent basis, and I think we proved this past week that when our pitching is strong, no one can beat us."
On the possibility of hosting a super regional:
"I'd love to have it here. When we hosted a regional two years ago we had 6,000 fans come out. I love playing in front of a home crowd - it's a good feeling."
Junior closer Dave Bush On playing in Knoxville, Tenn. regional:
"I'm not surprised. Looking over the regional sites, I thought we had a good chance of being selected for that one. I think it's a good draw. We'll definitely be facing some tough teams, but I think we have the chance to win it all."
