The tournament draw boasts eight teams ranked in the top fifty by www.golfweek.com. Other teams competing include Mississippi, Florida, NC State, LSU, Tulane and UNLV.
The Demon Deacons are currently ranked 18th by www.golfweek.com and will be a force to be reckon with this season. Even though they loss Marta Prieto, they gained three newcomers to the squad, Christine Hallstrom, Ashley Hoagland and Lesley Jamieson.
Key returnees for the Deacs include junior Maria Beautell, who earned All-ACC last year, senior Katie Brenny placed third at the ACC Championships and junior Nuria Clau compiled three top-10 finishes. This summer Clau won the Spanish Junior International and the Grand Prix of Chiberto and Beautell competed in the European Individuals and placed seventh in the Spanish Amateur.
Head coach Dianne Dailey is excited about her team's prospects this year. "We have a lot more depth than we had in the past. We have one to five spots that can shoot 75 or better when they play. Any one has a chance to play it just depends whose hot that week. In the past we have always relied on one person to help carry the team and this year I think it will be an even and balanced effort."
