AED Spring Fundraiser - Basketball Raffle
Purpose: To raise money for local charities and for the education of pre-medical students by selling raffle tickets to the Duke vs. Wake Forest Men's Basketball game on February 21st 9 pm at LJVM Coliseum.
A portion of the money raised will be donated to local charities. The remaining money will be used to establish a library of MCAT and professional school resources. Additionally, the money will be spent on bringing speakers and deans to interact with pre-medical students. Finally a portion of the proceeds will be used to establish a scholarship for students pursuing graduate education.
Details: Coach Skip Prosser generously donated 2 tickets. The raffle begins on Tuesday January 22nd and will end on Saturday February 16th at 5pm. The winner will be contacted on that Saturday evening and asked to attend the UVA vs. Duke game on Sunday February 17th at 6:30pm. At that time, the Deacon will restage the drawing and the winner will be announced to everyone during halftime.
Pre-medical students will be selling tickets to students in their dorms, in Benson, and in the academic buildings. Some students will also sell tickets at the LJVM Coliseum before the Maryland, Georgia Tech, UNC, and Cincinnati Men's Basketball games. Other students will sell tickets at local grocery stores, public libraries, schools, and local businesses.
AED will hang posters around the Reynolda Campus, public businesses, and the LJVM Coliseum. We have plans to advertise on Wake TV, Sportsline, Wake Radio, and the Old Gold and Black newspaper. AED would also like to advertise on the Coach's radio show, but this idea is pending Furthermore, AED will also make an attempt to advertise on local news stations.
There is a form on our homepage for people to print and mail in if they would like to participate in the raffle. AED would also like to include a link from the main athletic page so that visitors could learn about the raffle. The web address is http://www.wfu.edu/Student-organizations/AED/tickets.html.
AED would appreciate the support and help of the sports-marketing department, ISP, and student organizations.
Sincerely,
Qionna Tinney
