Deacons Picked 3rd in Preseason ACC Baseball Poll

GREENSBORO, NC - The Atlantic Coast Conference released its preseason polls for baseball on Wednesday. Wake Forest, the defending league champion, was picked to finish third in a vote by the league's coaches. Clemson narrowly edged Florida State to claim the title of preseason favorite.
Head coach George Greer returns 16 players from last year's squad that finished 44-18 and qualified for a school record fourth straight NCAA Tournament. Among those players are two preseason All-Americans, senior closer Dave Bush and sophomore third baseman Jamie D'Antona.
All four major national preseason polls are polls have been released. The Deacons rank between 16th (Collegiate Baseball) and 22nd (Writers' Assocation).
The team began practice on Monday and the season opener is now less than two weeks away. Wake Forest begins its 88th season of baseball on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Davidson at 3:00 p.m. The Deacons will travel to Houston for a tournament at Rice University before returning for the home opener on Feb. 20 against Elon.
