Women's Cross Country Wins NC Collegiate Championships

The Wake Forest women??s cross country team captured a first-place finish in the North Carolina Collegiate Cross Country Championships in Greenville, NC. The victory is the third first-place finish the Demon Deacons have grabbed this season.
Wake Forest notched the first-place spot with 34 total points, finishing with an average time of 18:12.11. Duke came in second, followed by Davidson, East Carolina and High Point. Eight Division-I teams participated in the event.
Leading the way for Wake Forest was junior Anna Sherman, who placed fourth with a time of 17:23.80. Junior Denise Hefferin followed with a time of 18:02.31 for ninth-place. In 14th-place was Rachel Mistur, who completed the race with a time of 18:13.42.
Others representing Wake Forest included Tess Fath (21st), Elizabeth Hagood (23rd), Candy Hitchcock (30) and Molly Nunn (55th).
The Wake Forest harriers will be back in action on Oct. 19, traveling to Terre Haute, IN to compete in pre-nationals.
