WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball team evened its overall record to 10-10 and pulled ahead to 4-3 in ACC play with a 3-0 home victory over Clemson (13-9, 4-3 ACC) Tuesday night. Jumping out to a two game lead by scores of 30-23 and 30-25 the Demon Deacons, fought off the Tigers' rally to win game three 34-32 and take the match.

"This was a huge win for us," said Wake Forest head coach Valorie Baker. "This conference is very challenging. There are two teams (No. 11 North Carolina and No. 20 Georgia Tech) in the top 25 and Clemson took both of those teams to five games. So to beat Clemson in three should provide our players a boost of confidence going into the Georgia Tech match."

Redshirt freshman outside hitter Valerie Rydberg led Wake Forest with 15 kills and four service aces to go with 13 digs. Senior setter Ashlee Phillips provided 47 assists and sophomore libero Tawni Schulte came up with 14 digs. Freshman middle blocker Christy Williams contributed 12 kills and four blocks.

Lori Ashton led Clemson with 16 kills, hitting .444 and recording seven blocks, including three solo stuffs. Jessi Betcher had 37 assists and a team-leading 10 digs.

Wake Forest returns to action this weekend when the Demon Deacons host #20 Georgia Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 and Florida State at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20 in Reynolds Gym.
